Goals
The main goals for a European ICT Network School are:
- To identify and highlight pedagogical innovation enhanced by the use of emerging technologies in classrooms and for interactive telelearning
- To promote the exchange and sharing of experiences between educational institutions active at various levels of the school systems from all over Europe
- To promote networking and the setting up of innovative projects, activities and institutions
- To promote cooperation between educational institutions and companies
- To disseminate information and examples of good practice
The use of the Net to support educational processes is essential. There are various educational approaches:
- The Net as a distribution channel of organized educational material (courseware) on a large scale
- The Net as a virtual space able to house collaboratively learning communities organized into proper learning groups or practice communities where each member increases their own knowledge and competencies by borrowing them reciprocally from the rest of the group.
The first function often becomes the only one, consequently the "Virtual Campuses" (meant as interactive dynamic eLearning environments) change into large catalogues of educational materials of any kind.
Distance learning and the presence of an area restricted to school-parents communication are examples of how the Network can be used to support educational processes.
