Talking about “multiple intelligence” is not easy. Moreover, the term is exacting and reminds us of an abstract science, from the laboratory. Gardner permitting, we would rather get into the everyday life of school, making the theory and the experiences available to everybody. This is the reason why we thought of a “virtual Department” which is highly interactive, and carachterised by the discussion forum. The following pages are organized around some work themes that well synthesize, in our opinion, the meaning of a didactics “of the intelligences”, talking in the plural. They are the themes of diversity, of the approaches of knowledge, of the multiple representation of it, of co-operative experiences. The site is structured in work rooms around these themes to discuss the presented materials. Some experiences come from the researchers of the group CIeA (Brain, Information, Learning), that have worked for some years inside the Educative Research Laboratory of the University of Florence. Others are represented by web sites and materials available on the web. The main metaphor that will lead the exploration of the following pages is the one of Pinocchio. This is for two reasons: first, because we think that school today has forgotten the importance of subjectivity, of speaking, of emotions and of discovery. Secondly, because we think that one’s way of learning is neither unique, nor predetermined, but the result of continuous research, both individual and co-operative. The story of the puppet of Collodi was in our opinion a tale with this meaning. So the group published a hypertext entitled “Pinocchio learns to learn”. |
